Annual events

At Allandale Primary School, our annual events are a vibrant celebration of community, participation and school spirit. These special occasions bring together learners, staff and families, strengthening        the bonds that make our school such a warm and inclusive environment. Each event is thoughtfully planned to provide learners with valuable opportunities to showcase their unique talents, develop essential life skills and engage in enjoyable and meaningful experiences beyond the classroom.

From thrilling sporting challenges that promote teamwork and perseverance, to creative arts and cultural showcases that highlight our learner’s imagination and diversity, every event contributes to  the holistic growth of our pupils. Our entrepreneurial activities inspire innovation and responsibility.

Through these shared experiences, learners not only build confidence and friendships but also  develop a deep sense of belonging and pride in being part of the Allandale family.

Together, we celebrate achievement, creativity and the joy of learning in an atmosphere of enthusiasm and unity.

Market Day

The Grade 7 EMS Market Day is an exciting highlight on our school calendar, giving our senior learners the chance to put their Economic and Management Sciences (EMS) skills into real-world practice. Working in teams, the learners step into the role of young entrepreneurs as they plan, budget, produce and sell their own products.

On Market Day, the school is transformed into a lively mini-market, buzzing with energy and creativity. All grades – from the youngest learners to the seniors – as well as staff members are invited to visit the stalls and purchase the learners handmade goods, tasty treats and creative crafts.

The atmosphere is filled with excitement as customers explore the different stalls and learners proudly showcase their efforts. Beyond the fun and enthusiasm, the experience teaches valuable lessons about teamwork, responsibility, money management  and entrepreneurship. The Grade 7 EMS Market Day is not only a celebration of learning but also a memorable event that brings the entire school community together.

snack and savoury sale

Our Snack and Savoury Sales provide learners with a wonderful opportunity to develop and showcase their entrepreneurial, organisational and interpersonal skills in a fun and practical way. Learner’s work collaboratively to decide on what to sell, source ingredients, and set fair yet competitive prices, giving them firsthand experience in managing a small-scale business.

On the day of the sale, the atmosphere is filled with excitement as learners eagerly promote their delicious snacks and savoury items to fellow students and staff members. Through this hands-on experience, they learn valuable lessons about teamwork, communication, responsibility and customer service, while also developing confidence and pride in their efforts.

These sales not only nurture an entrepreneurial mindset but also strengthen the sense of community within the school.

vrf soccer tournament

Allandale Primary proudly continues to participate in the annual Vassie Rajah Foundation (VRF) Soccer Tournament. This tournament was first introduced to the school through the Vassie Rajah Foundation, which was established with a strong commitment to developing learners holistically academically, physically, socially and emotionally.

Mr. Rajah firmly believed in the power of sport as a vehicle for growth, teaching learners important life values such as discipline, teamwork, perseverance, respect and sportsmanship. He saw soccer not just as a game, but as a means of shaping character and nurturing well-rounded individuals who could contribute positively to their communities.

Since its introduction, the tournament has become a much-anticipated event on the school calendar, uniting learners, staff and families in the spirit of friendly competition and shared values.
