Mr S Dorasamy

Allandale Primary School has been in existence for the past 39 years and it continues to be a school in which the learners, educators and members of the School Governing Body strive relentlessly for improvement in all areas, never wishing to sink into a spirit of complacency. The learners are encouraged to have a positive, spirited approach to life with a passion for learning and determination to be the best. The past 39 years have been characterized by a concerted effort on the part of the school to promote the welfare and progress of the school community in many spheres of socio-economic and community life.

We are a well-integrated, harmonious institution which produces high quality education. Our aim is to increase our output of quality teaching and learning, increase our output of quality research and address community needs through outreach projects. Allandale Primary School provides the inspiration, encouragement and support required by our learners to persevere, to give of their best, to be tolerant towards others and to become worthy members of society. The school will continue to act as a channel to transmit to them skills, techniques, knowledge and wisdom in order to equip them adequately to function in this changing world.

The future that faces all South Africans is challenging and exciting. It is our belief that Allandale Primary School will draw on its proud traditions to meet these challenges and to equip all those associated with the school with the desired insights, skills and attitudes. The school can only go from strength to strength in the fulfillment of its aspirations and progressive programmes, and more particularly, in the maintenance of the high principles that it is known to espouse.

The school places great emphasis on the necessity for young learners to participate in sports for fun, enjoyment and sportsmanship. As a consequence, the school has endeavored to take part in all codes of sports offered by our controlling sport’s body for primary school sports in the region. We believe that sport is the universal line of communication linking young children with one another. It speaks to them in terms which transcends the boundaries of any one group. The times in which we live calls for the strengthening of every bond of unity while we respect our differences. Sport is but another expression of the eternal effort of children to enrich themselves and their world.

Allandale Primary School has always focused on the holistic development of its learners. To this end, we are confronted with our own difficulties and limitations. Our learners come from various communities within the city.

As a school we envisage, with the community, to:

  • Build two additional classrooms as all the specialist rooms and the library are being utilized as classrooms;
  • Upgrade the Library Resource Centre;
  • Install smart boards in all the classrooms, currently we have smart boards in 8 classrooms;
  • Introduce e-learning among the learners of the school.
  • Build a guard house and
  • Erect a multi-faceted sports facility.

Thank you to all our past learners who fly the Allandale flag with pride. Thank you for being our true ambassadors wherever you are. We remember your contributions and achievements with pride. We will always endeavor to strengthen and uplift the quality of teaching and learning at our school. May happiness, good health and good fortune be yours always.

As the “School of Choice”, the Allandale Family will grow from strength to strength and continue to forge strong partnerships with our parents, ex-students and the community who have played a leading role in our success.

Yours most appreciatively

Mr S. Dorasamy
